ADELIA CLAVIEN
A few words from Adelia about her mixed technique (photo & painting) on canvas.
Mixed media brings an extra dimension to my work because it abounds in elements, textures, details and allows me to explore the interactions between different mediums and graphic instruments. The use of mixed media offers me immense possibilities of expression and allows me to personalize my artistic language.
In painting, we speak of mixed technique when the colored material contains at least two binders of different nature or heterogeneous materials. In the history of pictorial technique, artists have often mixed materials to achieve their ends. My "mixed technique" paintings are compositions containing up to 15 photos (or more) superimposed and digitally processed. The base photo and several other superimposed photos which bring the artistic side. Once the assembly is done, the digital image is printed on canvas. This canvas is then painted with different mediums such as: Acrylic, Charcoal, Sand, Stained Glass, Plaster, Judas Bitumen, etc. The whole is then covered with epoxy resin.
In contemporary art, the synergy between different forms of expression has often merged to give life to new manifestations of a creative inspiration strongly oriented towards singularity.
